Dr. Shireen Henry

Dr. Shireen Henry is a South African-trained physician and Director of Operations at MATTER, Singapore's premier health optimisation clinic, with over two decades of clinical experience spanning palliative care, HIV and TB medicine, paediatrics, occupational health, and emergency medicine across South Africa, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, and Singapore. She has extensive operational experience leading medical teams in extreme environments, rebuilding careers across multiple healthcare systems, and delivering preventive health strategies for athletes, executives, and high performers seeking to optimise their longevity and quality of life.

After building a clinical career that took her from palliative care wards to the frontlines of a global pandemic — leading Covid-19 emergency response for 45,000 oil and gas workers stranded in Kazakhstan, serving as the first female medical officer at a major Chevron operation, and making life-or-death decisions with limited resources in resource-constrained settings — Dr. Shireen experienced a profound realisation about the gap between reactive medicine and true health. This pivotal insight led her to expand her focus beyond crisis response to preventive medicine and lifestyle optimisation, where she now integrates hyperbaric oxygen therapy, red light therapy, hormone optimisation, contrast therapy, and personalised health coaching into a human-centred approach to longevity.

As a leader in health optimisation, Dr. Shireen specialises in helping individuals who recognise that sustaining peak performance requires investing in your health before you need to. Drawing from her South African medical training, postgraduate diplomas in occupational and HIV medicine, and lived experience across Stellenbosch, Glasgow, Sumatra, Kazakhstan, and Singapore, she brings both clinical rigour and personal conviction to the belief that elite performance — whether in boardrooms, on oil rigs, or on the hockey field — requires the same fundamentals: sleep, nutrition, hormonal balance, stress resilience, and oxygen.

Based in Singapore, Dr. Shireen works with athletes, CEOs, frequent travellers, and individuals navigating major life transitions, combining her deep understanding of preventive medicine with science-informed therapies at MATTER — while representing Singapore in Masters hockey, advocating for women navigating financial independence and identity as expats, and proving that every setback, from being cut from a hockey team at 12 to losing the right to practise medicine, is fuel for the next chapter.
